An Insider's Guide into the Hong Kong Art Scene

The Flying Winemaker

Conveniently located on Wyndham Street, The Flying Winemaker gives a substantially different vibe from all the nearby action in Lan Kwai Fong as it is actually the ideal place to unwind from the madness that is Hong Kong. Intended as a wine bar for the unpretentious (and maybe a little less knowledgable) wine lover, the Flying Winemaker is perfect for anyone who just feels like relaxing with a nice glass of the good stuff. If you feel that you are spoilt with choice and can’t decide, the bartender will also gladly assist in giving you recommendations, all of which are at a relatively reasonable price by the glass.

The Flying Winemaker is split into two floors where you can select your desired glass of wine at the bar and head upstairs and spend the rest of the night socializing. The bar itself is quite small but nevertheless cozy and comfortable, as the setting provides for a great way to meet the people sitting next to and across from you at the center table.

Be sure to visit the winery on the last Wednesday of each month where you will be treated to live, intimate jazz performances, always a perfect combination to go with your wine. A flute, guitar and contrabass trio usually performs from 19:00 to about 23:00. Workshops and Masterclasses with international wine makers known as “Wine Skool” are also available to the public on a weekly basis, so be on the lookout for upcoming events from their website:  http://eddiemcdougall.com/
